Along the way Melissa happened to run over a large piece of broken bottle and shredded her tire. We were prepared and packed an extra tire and quickly handled business.
We got lunch in a small town that was heavily mexican influenced, Guadalupe. Our afternoon was spent battling a headwind and climbs outside of Vandenberg Air Force Base on Highway 1.
We decided to call it quits after 73 miles in Lompoc. There was no camping available in the area, so we checked in to the Days Inn motel - best $75 spent - free beer, nachos (worst dinner decision), and a hot tub which was apparently filled with bleach (seriously, our eyes were burning and Mike and DJ's shorts are lighter now).
We are really looking forward to when you all travel 3,000 miles back to Ohio to have welding lessons and a meal with us!! it was the best ice cream We've ever had for breakfast. thanks so much for sharing your morning with us. Xxoo d and b
