We packed up early and caught breakfast on the road at a sweet cafe along the way. There were some pretty cool cycling friendly towns along the way on our 32 mile ride to San Francisco. We were impressed by the number of people out road riding at 10am on a Wednesday. Sausalito notably had a nice houseboat community. From Sausalito we made our way to San Francisco over the Golden Gate Bridge.
We shared the narrow path on the bridge with pedestrians and many people on rented bikes who looked like it was their first time with the training wheels off. The fog prevented us from viewing the assumed spectacular views.
At this point Z broke off from the group to make it to Ferg's to get the keys before noon. He made some ill decisions on his maiden voyage through the streets of SF, and biked up one of the tallest, steepest climbs in the city on Divisidaro Street. The separate group weaved their way to the destination and arrived ten minutes after Z.
Ferg was an amazing host providing hot showers, laundry money, and a wonderful atmosphere to sleep in. We were also warmly welcomed with a care package from Ohio with homemade goodies by Lisa Kisling.
We spent the afternoon under the sun fixing and cleaning bikes, and running errands to restock supplies. Dinner was had at an authentic Thai food restaurant and met up with DJ's friends Sheila and Danny.
We're not sure if we got enough rest in on our "rest day".
